It was more than a campaign. These were waves in Patagonia that had never been ridden before.
When SPERRY proposed a campaign to revitalize the brand, Cristian did not hesitate for a moment and contacted Felipe Jugo and his team to bring the project to fruition.
Thus began the expedition: six intense days of filming, searching, waiting… and unwavering faith. Ultimately, the uncharted waves revealed themselves — the waves that had been waiting to be discovered.

Who is Cristian Merello?
Merello has been connected to surfing since the age of 9. He began in Pichilemu, where his mother owned a hotel that hosted top athletes. From a young age, I started surfing big waves. In 2010, he won his first Big Wave World Championship in Punta de Lobos, Chile.
Starting in 2015, he dedicated himself to seeking the biggest waves in the world, developing extensive expertise in big wave surfing, along with a deep gratitude and respect for the ocean.
From the beginning, Merello stood out for his innovative surfing style, influenced by his passion for skateboarding, a sport he has practiced since childhood. Before focusing on big waves, he explored the Chilean coastline in search of the best surf spots, producing several documentaries along the way.
Merello's entire career as an athlete has evolved and influenced the surfing culture in Chile.
