WILD CHILE | Cap. 2 | "The Giant's Breath"

We reached the Island Chañaral Marine Reserve, where we observed an extraordinary natural phenomenon: diverse species congregating to feed on krill, ranging from microscopic tunicates to large whales, all relying on this crucial component of the marine food web.
We also traveled to the Gulf of Corcovado to understand the essential role of rivers and mountains in the proliferation of krill. While sailing, we encountered a virtually unknown bird species: the Pincoya Storm Petrel.
We delved into the insights and mysteries unveiled by a stranded whale, reflecting on the threat of pollution in the southern seas. We also discovered the work of Susannah, who studies the haunting songs of whales, and entered the captivating world of these ocean giants.
What could a flamingo and a whale possibly have in common? We'll travel to the Salar de Pujsa to observe the surprising similarities in the way they feed.
And of course, as the weather clears, the distant blows of blue whales begin to rise on the horizon. We had the rare privilege of witnessing over 15 blue whales feeding at the same time.
